Climbing Ca la Torre

This is the most significant manor house in Vandellòs, which takes its name from this architectural element, the adjoining defence tower, which dates from the 16th century and has been declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN). This type of tower was built as a place of observation and protection against pirate attacks that threatened our coasts. Ca la Torre (la Torre house) is a cultural facility made up of the former ancestral home of the Gil-Vernet family, which has had several generations of internationally renowned doctors, and the medieval tower. The building currently houses the Historical Archive, with space for organisations and an exhibition and interpretation area for the history and heritage of the town. Open-air social and cultural activities are organised in the back gardens, and the medieval tower can be visited.
